The Best Antioxidant Fruit For Your Buck

Antioxidants are warriors for the body and skin. They fight free radical damage and keep our cells healthy. Studies have shown that fruits and berries provide the richest source of antioxidants. Most of us enjoy eating fruit year round so it should be easy to get a healthy dose of antioxidants each day. So which fruit is the best source for antioxidants?

A comprehensive study gauging antioxidant levels in many foods has shown that blueberries, blackberries, and cranberries have the highest concentration of antioxidants. Just one cup of these sweet and delicious treats can provide all the antioxidants you need in a day.  Apples, prunes, raspberries, and strawberries are also high in antioxidants and, althought it is not a fruit, red kidney beans and pinto beans are also great sources for antioxidants.

Keep in mind that although these berries have a high level of antioxidants, the body does not absorb all of it, so it is important to eat a healthy balanced diet from all sources.
